Kids iPhone Activities: Need for Monitoring ‘The Smart Way’

One of the best available smartphones on earth is the iPhone with Apple generating more than 50% of the total global profit from cell phone sales. Its had six generations so far with iPhone 5 being the latest and each upgrade of the previous one comes loaded with improved and added features. Some common activities on iPhone include:
  • Calls: Well the primitive reason why people used to have mobile phones was to call each other and the purpose of using iPhone to make calls has reduced but can’t be completely replaced with chatting or texting. Making calls has been taken to the next level with Face Time a feature that allows a video call between two iPhone smartphone users with high quality and the touch feature is disabling when the screen touches the face. Since kids and teens shouldn’t be video calling everyone, parents need to be watchful of who, how and when are the chatting.
  • Texting, Chatting and Social Networking: With many social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. kids have their dose of virtual networking nothing like the same way with their iPhone. Now if kids are tired to texting they can use Voxie Pro Recorder that lets them speak their text. In case teens want to connect to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube on one website they can use Ziibii app. They can also talk to strangers from any part of the world with Twitter World translation service. There are many free apps that allow chatting on different platforms like Gtalk, Yahoo, ICQ, and MSN easily and one such is IM+. GeoTwitter automatically attaches map links to tweets and Twitter boost will help find cool people. Birdhouse lets your kids save their ideas and future tweets and take them while on the move. Tweens and teens have everything made simple with iPhone however they can easily be over sharing, meeting predators and getting addicted.
  • Photos and Videos: Facebook PixSter allows uploading photos directly from iPhone, and with VideoUp, videos can be easily uploaded on Facebook. Facebook Easy status lets your kids update status while on the go and with FaceMic they can even send audio updates with this app. All this is just a glimpse of the possibilities of iPhone and there are more than 585,000 apps.
There are many bad apps as well depending on the taste and purpose of use. Kids can be using many such apps on their iPhone without telling you (as no child shares that information). Also when using such apps they can be incurring huge bills and recently Apple was sued by parents for developing games that stimulate dopamine release and so the child continue playing as he is offered rewards and exciting visuals. The news of a Taiwanese 18 year old dying from paying Diablo, one of the most addictive games for 40 straight hours should be a lesson for us. Parents can install powerful recommended monitoring software such as Mobile Spy onto their kids’ iPhone to track activities. The personal dash board with complete calls, emails, chats, and IMs, photos and videos logs will be a smart start to safety online.
